Taxes (on insurance plans better than what the government offers)
Families who pay for private schools still pay the same taxes as everyone else for public schooling.
With the new Obama/Pelosi Government run health insurance, if you buy your own health insurance, you pay more taxes to support their plan that people who don't buy their own.
Or remove another layer of obfuscation - government health care = force.
My problem with the whole authoritarian government system we have is that it does not respect the peaceful choices of individuals.
I fully respect the right of someone to think such a healthcare system is a good idea and to support it. I would never dream of using force to stop them. All I ask is that they afford me the same right, the right to disagree. The right to disagree logically implies the right to act on that disagreement, not just voice my disagreement. Meaning: I would not have to participate in or fund such a program.
If they don't afford me this right - if they think that I should be punished for disagreeing and acting on it, then clearly there is no logical discussion to be had. They're threatening the use of force against me, for an absolutely peaceful choice. This is an irrational, and rather violent, position, so "rational discussion" seems unlikely to sway them.
I agree that the major affront of this plan is the assault on liberty.
In America, there's some lingering idea of Liberty - the right of one to do with one's self and one's belongings whatever one chooses, which of course must necessarily logically include the exception - except invade someone else's Liberty.
This throws that idea out the window.
