"It is bright red and, according to the U2 frontman, sexy."
Bono has teamed up with corporate giants to market "red" products. Armania, Nike, Gap, American Express... teamed with Bono?
Yup. They are donating minimal profits from sales of certain products.
Will yuppies who refuse to give away some of their excess money be the saviors of the poor and sick in Africa by buying trendy "red" Bono-friendly products?
Can Bono retain his integrity as a rock star and humanitarian while joining with the ruthless corporate giants?
Its possible this is just one more way to funnel some more needed money to the neediest.... or is Bono giving up on the idea of people wanting to not be completely selfish?
Maybe he should.
We don't think we should ever be responsible for giving to the needy. We have relinquished our responsibilities, and we have relinquished our privleges. It is not bad to give to the needy - yet no one wants to do it. We all say the politicians should. The writer of the article where I learned about this news-story said that it shouldn't be corporations giving money to Africa - it should be governments.
No. It shouldn't.
It should be you. It should be me.
But we don't care.
