Resolutions

New Year's resolutions are usually pointless because we enter into them because its January 1, not because we really desire the change.

St. Augustine in his Confessions (here's the translation I read) wrote about how his will was divided - the reason why he wouldn't step foot in a church wasn't because he had 2 wills one for good and one for bad, but because his one will was divided against itself in all kinds of ways. If he wasn't going to do something, it was because most of his will - most of what he wanted, was something else.

What do I want to do? What do I want to want to do? What should I want to do, and what should I want to want to do?
I picked up a flyer at yesterday that talked about how you should write a personal mission statement before seeking resolutions. This leads me to an interesting question:
I know what I want to do, but do I know who I want to be?
