I stopped making resolutions because every day is new - I don't need a new number at the end of the date to declare that I need to change something. I do set goals for my age, though: "before I turn 28..." etc. But I don't think there's anything wrong with resolutions!!
So you just don't tie resolutions to the calendar year, but to your age... that makes sense.
I make resolutions myself, I just try to avoid starting them on January 1 to avoid the stereotype of making and breaking resolutions.
I do appreciate New Years like I appreciate Christmas - it's an annual reminder.... No, we don't need a federal holiday to remember Christ's birth, but we still celebrate it especially on that one day.
Today is a good opportunity for me to think about where I want to be in a year - and more importantly - who I want to be in a year.
I'm not sure I ever made resolutions -- mostly because I'm goal-averse. But I really started being anti-New Year's Resolutions when I belonged to a gym and realized that in January, you can't find a parking space, you can't get a spot in your favorite class, and all the "good" lockers are taken because of all the New Year's Resolutioners. I hate them.
I'd rather just "do" than "resolve", you know?
Oh, and for that big empty box at the top, just write a little about yourself :)
@antof9 - I know what you mean about the gym... I am there every month out of the year, but the first week of January is the worst!
Better to "do" than "resolve" - I guess we've separated the two, so you can "resolve" without doing.
I guess I personally take resolutions not as a "I will do 100% from now on!" But more of a self-assessment and direction-setting... looking at what kind of person I want to be, and starting in that direction
